What is remarkable is that so many people spend their entire lives craning their necks--doing just about anything--to stand out, to stick out in people's minds. They want to be the one that people remember, the one that everyone likes.
We are so afraid to be ourselves...to be the person that makes us smile...that we can't be happy with who we really are.
It occurred to me recently that a nail that sticks out of a dock will stop people. It might trip them. Yes, people will remember the pain.
Do we really want be nails?
No.
I'd rather just be me.
